Terms of Use

These terms apply to your use of the Wasco Residents Directory. By continuing to use the site, you accept them; if you do not agree, please leave the site and do not use its materials.

1. The Nature of This Website

Wasco Residents Directory is a privately operated reference about public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections connected with Wasco and Kern County, California. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with the City of Wasco, Kern County, a California agency, a court, or any records custodian.

2. Acceptable and Prohibited Uses

Use this reference only for lawful, responsible purposes. You may not use the site or information reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make a decision regulated by the FCRA, including a credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decision
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
  • Interfere with the site's operation or security

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency Relationship

This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Neither our pages nor results supplied by a linked search tool are consumer reports, and they may not be used to evaluate eligibility for credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated purpose.

4. Outside Links and Providers

Government portals and third-party services, including sponsored search tools, set their own terms, prices, availability, and privacy practices. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content or operation.

5. No Warranties or Guarantees

The site is supplied "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that a page, link, portal, record description, or result is accurate, complete, current, or available at any particular time.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of this site or a linked resource, including an action taken after reading a record described there.

7. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the site operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that results from your misuse of the site or breach of these terms.

8. Copyright and Site Materials

The site's original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. You may link to a page and quote a short excerpt with attribution; you may not republish complete pages or copy the material systematically.

9. Revisions

We may revise these terms by posting an updated version on this page. If you keep using the site after a revision, you accept the revised terms.

10. Suspension of Access

We may block or limit access for a user who violates these terms or abuses the site. We may take that step at our discretion and without advance notice.

11. California Law and Records Requests

California law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The California Public Records Act (CPRA), Government Code §§7920.000–7931.000, applies to requests directed to public agencies, not to this private reference. Government Code §7922.530 addresses reasonably described, identifiable nonexempt records. Under §7922.535, an agency has ten calendar days to determine disclosure and notify the requester, with a possible written extension of up to 14 days for unusual circumstances. That window is for a determination, not a promise that records will be produced within ten days.

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Civil Code §1798.100 et seq., may govern covered personal information. Government-record information is outside the CCPA's publicly available information scope, subject to statutory exceptions. California DROP launched in January 2026, and registered-broker deletion and stop-sale obligations begin August 1, 2026. Consult current state guidance for the process and exceptions.

12. Severability

If a provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
